Dorn Spinal Therapy

A gentle and effective treatment

Craig Haynes is a qualified Dorn Spinal Therapist

The Origins

Dorn Spinal Therapy has it's origins in Germany, and is a gentle and effective treatment for any sort of back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches and migraines.

There is no bone manipulation, cracking or any other surprising or aggressive moves involved with Dorn Spinal Therapy.

Dorn Spinal Therapy history lies with Dieter Dorn from southern Germany. He suffered from Lumbago (sciatic pain) which was so painful, he could hardly move. He had tried various treatments with little relief when he remembered of a Healer whose reputation for "healing miracles" was wide-spread.

This Healer worked on Dieter, using only the pressure from his thumbs. Afterwards, Dieter was able to move freely again, and go back to work. The Healer, who was in his 80's, asked Dieter to carry on with this method and his work. When he died several months later he left Dieter Dorn with a mission. He was determined to help others with this fantastic treatment and began with his first patient, his wife. She had suffered from severe headaches for over 20 years, and her doctor had even advised surgery. Dieter began working on her, and over several treatments the headaches diminished before disappearing entirely.

Spurred on by this success, he progressed to treating family and friends and before long, word spread, people coming from far and wide to seek treatment. Eventually even doctors came to learn the treatment.

Today, Dorn Spinal Therapy is well recognized, particularly in Europe, and is often chosen over Chiropractic adjustment or other forms of manipulation.

There are now more than 2000 Certified Practitioners in more than 20 countries, among them doctors and medical specialists. Dorn Spinal Therapy has testimonies from people who have endured chronic pain for years and been able to cancel scheduled surgery after receiving Dorn Spinal Therapy treatment.

The Treatment

With the Dorn method, the corrections of joint or spinal misalignment are always gently performed whilst the body is in a "dynamic" or moving action. Muscles, especially tensed muscles, will always try to hold the positions of the joint and spine. When they are misaligned, the muscles still try and hold this "wrong" position.

A correction whilst in a static state (eg as with Chiropractic), is always difficult since it needs to overcome the strength of the holding muscles. The Dorn method uses motion to "divert" the muscles, making it much easier to carry out the re-alignment. Dorn is a gentle and non-aggressive technique suitable for people of all ages.

Hence Craig has developed a way of incorporating both Myopractic and Dorn Spinal Therapy to create a dynamic new approach to pain relief.
